Dubai’s autumn openings: new stores, a salon and exclusives

From a 950 sq m ALO flagship to new boutiques at Atlantis The Royal and a Sotheby’s salon in DIFC, the season’s shopping map is changing.

Dubai’s shopping calendar has filled up this autumn. ALO opened its largest UAE flagship at Mall of the Emirates on 18 September, Atlantis The Royal has added new boutiques, Sotheby’s opened a gallery and salon in DIFC on 24 September, and Dior released pieces that are sold only in the Middle East. Together they give readers planning their season’s shopping a clear map of what is new.

A note on sourcing: only the ALO opening is confirmed by more than one outlet. The Atlantis The Royal boutiques, the Sotheby’s salon and the Dior exclusives rest on reporting by Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, and the brands had not confirmed dates in the material reviewed. Readers should check opening hours and availability before making a trip.

The backdrop is a city whose luxury retail has long centred on two places, Mall of the Emirates and The Dubai Mall. This autumn the map is widening: resorts on Palm Jumeirah and the financial district in DIFC are now competing for the same shoppers, each with a different kind of visit in mind.

ALO’s largest UAE store

The ALO store at Mall of the Emirates opened on 18 September. At 950 sq m, it is the brand’s largest flagship in the UAE, and it was opened in partnership with Alshaya Group, the Kuwait-based retailer that runs many international brands across the region. According to Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and Jdeed Magazine, the store has spacious fitting rooms, a VIP seating area and an olive tree at its centre.

ALO is a premium activewear brand rather than a luxury house in the traditional sense, but its growth shows where Gulf shoppers are spending. It also opened at Dubai Hills Mall on 28 August, adding to stores at The Dubai Mall and The Galleria Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi.

Atlantis The Royal adds boutiques

On Palm Jumeirah, the resort that opened in 2023 has added Chloé and Brunello Cucinelli stores, according to Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. A Zimmermann store is to follow. No opening dates or sizes were given, which is why these openings are best treated as announcements to confirm rather than dates to plan around.

The addition continues a pattern of luxury brands choosing hotel destinations as well as malls. A resort boutique draws on a different kind of visitor: guests who are already staying nearby, with time to browse.

A Sotheby’s salon in DIFC

Sotheby’s Dubai opened a new gallery and salon on 24 September in Gate Village Building 10, Podium Level, Unit 3, in the Dubai International Financial Centre. According to Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, its first public viewing ran from 24 to 27 September.

The viewing mixed categories that rarely share a room: contemporary art, jewellery, watches, historic Islamic pieces, Hermès handbags and a collector car. For collectors in the Gulf, a permanent salon in DIFC offers a place to see works in person rather than only in a catalogue.

Dior pieces made for the Middle East

Dior has released three limited-edition pieces, based on its Cannage motif, that are sold only in the Middle East. They are a My Dior ring and a My Dior bracelet, both in yellow gold with vivid green lacquer, and a La D My Dior watch. No prices or release dates were published in the source, so interested clients should ask their nearest boutique.

Region-only editions of this kind signal that houses see Gulf clients as a distinct audience, with colour and gold choices of their own.

Beyond the UAE, and what comes next

Further afield, TimeVallée has opened its first Egyptian boutique at Downtown Katameya in Cairo. The 230 sq m space carries Cartier, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai and Baume & Mercier, with a VIP salon and an in-house watchmaker. The opening shows luxury retail widening beyond the Gulf, with Cairo now home to a dedicated watch boutique of this scale.

Two events are worth watching. The Saudi jeweller Charmaleena is preparing a flagship in Riyadh, according to Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, though no date has been published. And Gucci’s new store concept, previewed at its Milan show, is due to open on Avenue Montaigne in Paris on 30 October. That store is in Paris, not the Gulf, but it signals the look future Gucci boutiques may take.

Alongside the openings, Atelier Rebul’s fragrance pop-up is running at Bloomingdale’s in The Dubai Mall from 17 September to 26 October, with engraving and fragrance discovery on offer.

For now, the practical advice is simple. Visit the ALO flagship and the Sotheby’s salon first, as they are the best documented, and confirm the rest with the brands before setting out.
